| Post Roman - 4th Century to 680 A.D. As with much of Britains history at this time little is known. The area was probably ruled by minor Kings until the annexation in 680 A.D The area would likely have been a hostile place to live, as was the norm. However there appears to be evidence of religious influence that would eventually shape the city into what we see in the middle ages and beyound to what we see of the city even today. St Nicholas's church in Warndon, although not built until the 12th Century has evidence of regular Christian worship before this time, later known as St Helen's before becoming St Nicholas'.
