‘Teenager’s Tip’

By Liz Hayden-Jones

I wonder how many teenagers can compete with a room as untidy as this one?

My seventeen year old daughter is untidy to the core,  has no regard for anything looking neat and although in herself she is tidy, her attitude is a very untidy one.   I always try to let her off the hook as she is studying hard and she does have a part time job. However,  passing by the room today prompted me to write an article that I may just leave on her dressing table, if I can find room! She has ample wardrobe hanging space, more so than I have, yet can’t seem to put clothes away, ever.  They remain in a heap on her bed and presumably they get thrown on the floor when she goes to bed.  The one thing I had noticed today is that she has actually made her bed!  Usually it remains unmade and among everything else the whole room is disgusting.

She will be going to University shortly and I just wonder how she will be in a compact room and having to fend for herself.   Who knows, she may turn the corner and become ultra tidy and fastidious to the core,   just like my other daughter.  Time alone will tell, but for now, I’ve closed the door on her room and pray that she may find a little time to tidy it, or at least, empty the bin!

Kim and Aggy would have a field day!
