It’s early spring and I’ve been well wrapped up in the garden this week trimming the hedges. Excitedly, I notice that spring is well and truly arriving. In every area of my garden I see signs of the season I love most. In abundance, new growth, new life, and lots of seasonal promises. With a medium sized plot it’s easy to keep tidy and I have been successful in devising areas of the garden, from a courtyard to a small shady corner, ideal for hot summer days, or balmy evenings. But the most sacred and special place of all is my arbour, not least because it’s a lovely place to sit, but my dearest pet is buried behind it. Henry, my cat lived to seventeen years of age and died of old age. We spent many happy hours sitting and soaking up the sunshine and a namesake honeysuckle is planted over the arbour in memory of my wonderful friend. Spring is such a lovely time of year and there is always so much promise ahead.
